Diversification of finances and challenges of intra-party democracy in the Contemporary Georgian Political party spectrum
Abstract
The aim of the paper is to determine the type of correlation between the Diversification of finances of parties and their of intra-party democracy based on the example of the 2008-2020 parliamentary elections.
The article uses qualitative research methods to answer research questions, namely, secondary data analysis, document analysis, and a comparison method that compares the institutional capacities of financially dependent and independent political parties in the study. The study includes a survey of experts, which in turn facilitated an in-depth study of the topic.
The introduction discusses the aims and objectives of the research, as well as the design and methodological foundations of the research. The first chapter of the paper reviews literature on the theoretical framework, such as the role of State funding in Institutionalization of Parties. Chapters two and three include an overview of empirical data and key research findings. The conclusion of the paper presents the findings of the research.
Thus, the study revealed that despite the increase in funding for political parties from the state budget from year to year, the lack of ideological profile and consistent policies is one of the important characteristics of Contemporary Georgian parties.
